Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

The Women's Group is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every patient to be able to find information about our providers and services, and to request an appointment, regardless of how they use the web.

Conformance status

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines are the international standard for web accessibility and are referenced by U.S. federal accessibility regulations. WCAG 2.2 includes and builds on the earlier 2.0 and 2.1 versions of the standard.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the site meets the standard, and that we are actively working on the areas that do not yet.

What we have done

As part of our recent website redesign, we have:

  • Written descriptive alternative text for images that convey information, so screen reader users receive the same content
  • Made expandable sections and other interactive elements operable by keyboard alone, without a mouse
  • Added a visible focus indicator so keyboard users can always see where they are on the page
  • Added a "Skip to main content" link so people using screen readers or keyboards can bypass the navigation
  • Reviewed text and interface colors against WCAG contrast requirements and adjusted those that did not pass
  • Marked up page regions and headings so assistive technology can navigate the page structure
  • Honored the operating system "reduce motion" setting for visitors who are sensitive to animation
  • Written link and button text that describes where each one goes

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about the areas we are still working on:

  • Appointment scheduling and the patient portal are provided by athenahealth, a third party. We do not control their accessibility. If you have difficulty using either, please call us at 850-476-3696 and we will schedule your appointment or assist you directly.
  • The embedded map is provided by Google. Our address and directions are also available as text on this page and on our Contact page.
  • Some downloadable documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We will provide any of our patient materials in an alternative format on request.

How we test

We review our website using a combination of automated testing tools and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing. Accessibility is part of our review process when we add or change content, not a one-time check.

Auxiliary aids and language assistance

The Women's Group provides free auxiliary aids and services to people with disabilities, and free language assistance services to people whose primary language is not English, so they can communicate effectively with us. This includes materials in alternative formats and assistance using this website.

To request an auxiliary aid or service, or language assistance, call us at 850-476-3696. These services are provided free of charge.
